Great Looking Florida Dug Coat Size Artillery Corps Uniform Button Circa 1815
Click on an image to enlarge

This is an original dug coat size 1815 period artillery corps button. This one has a cleaned brass patina with fine detail. It has the cannon on the front with the eagle perched on top of the barrel. Below the gun is a stack of cannonballs. Across the bottom of the button you can still read part of the "CORPS" wording. This one has had the shank on the back of the button replaced long ago. This button was found years ago at Fort San Marcos de Apalachee near Tallahassee. More importantly, this button is directly related to Jackson’s visit there in 1818 during the first Seminole War. This is the style listed as figure AY55 in Albert's button book.
