Beautiful Attic Tone 1-Piece Militia With Stars Coat Button GI67
Click on an image to enlarge
This has always been one of my favorite button designs. It is the version listed as GI67 in Albert's button book. It has the beautiful spread wing eagle on the face of the button with the arrows of war in one talon and the branch of peace in the other. Around the edge of the button it has the stars. When the button left the factory it was silver washed. This one has traces of the original silver on the face. The silvered has toned down from age as you can see. This is a 1-piece button with the original applied shank on the reverse. You can still read the "BEST QUALITY LONDON" backmark on the reverse of the button. This is a fine looking button that has that "straight out of the attic" color.
