Tough to Find 1862 Dated C.S. $500 Bond With Battle of Shiloh Scene
Click on an image to enlarge

Here is a great looking bond! It is an authentic 1862 dated Confederate States of America savings bond. This is the beautiful style that has the Confederate Secretary of the Treasury, Memminger, in the center of the top with a battle scene behind him. The scarce thing about this bond is that above Memminger is the word "SHILOH". These are very tough to get and this one is a nice original. This one has 17 of the original coupons attached at the bottom. When the date arrived that is printed on the bottom of the coupon you could cash it in for your interest payment. These were to be hand signed and numbered by the Confederate Government. This one was numbered and is noted as "ENTERED" but it was never signed by the officials. The serial number on the bond and all of the coupons is #7,534. This is the Confederate bond listed as CR-111 in the bond book. This will make a fine display or even better framed up on you office wall.
