Parish of St. Mary Louisiana 1862 Dated July 24th from Franklin, Louisiana

Here is a neat Civil War piece of Louisiana currency issued from Franklin, Louisiana. It was issued by the Treasurer of the Parish of St. Mary for the amount of 50 cents. It is dated from July 24th 1862 in the lower center of the note. Franklin was a sugar port and many of the beautiful sugar plantation mansions still exist and are well-preserved. The notes were printed by White and Son, Printers, Franklin, La. It is printed on very thing brown paper. It has the hole on one side and the other side has the glue on the reverse. It measures 5 inches by 2-5/8ths inches in overall size. It comes in an acid-free holder for display and preservation.
