Click on an image to enlarge
This is an attractive original Civil War era powder flask. This one is marked on the top of the spout by the maker "JAMES DIXON & SONS. SHEFFIELD". The Dixon & Sons Company in Sheffield, England was one of the premiere powder flask makers of the 1800's. The body has the sides that are covered in leather and the leather is complete with a nice well worn look. The flask stands about 9-1/2 inches tall and is about 4 inches across. The spout is present and the original spring no longer works. It is the version that is made without the hanging loops on the side. It has an attractive overall look and is still affordable!
