Here is a very pretty sword for the price! This is a militia style officer's sword. Most all of the swords of this pattern were made in the late 1800's to early 1900's. It has the full-length that was made without any etching. At the base of the blade, you can see the etched maker marking of the Philadelphia firm of Louis E. Stiltz. They sold military goods from about 1894 until the 1930's. It has a nice color to the white metal of the cross guard and pommel cap. The original grip is remaining and is crafted from a single piece of ribbed bone with a pleasing tan color. The sword is accompanied by the original scabbard that is complete and has a very nice look all over. The sword still retains a fine amount of the original nickel plating from the factory. This is a pretty sword for the price of a U.S. buckle costs these days.
