Click on an image to enlarge
What a cool looking gun! This is an original Albanian flintlock pistol. This pattern is referred to by collectors as a "Rat Tail" flintlock. These guns were utilized throughout the Ottoman Empire in the Middle East. This gun fires a bullet of approximately .65 caliber. It has the original full-length 12-1/2 inch part round part octagonal barrel. The breech of the barrel has the proofmarks still partially visible. The action of the lock still catches on both positions but the main spring isn't working so it doesn't snap and fire. It is sporting the finely crafted brass stock with extremely fine flora. It is made without a triggerguard. This gun would be from the middle to late 1700's. This is a very attractive early production flintlock pistol with a cool design.
