This is a true work of art as much as it is a bank note. It
is an original $100 note from the Citizens Bank of Louisiana in New Orleans,
Louisiana. This one was never issued as you can tell by the blanks where the
names and signatures would have gone. This note displays superbly and was never
issued and it is from the pre-Civil War era as they were not printed after the
Civil War. It has the scene that shows of a young girl in the lower left hand
corner. In the center there are three allegorical maidens representing the arts
admiring a bust of Washington. On the bottom right hand side it has the oval
portrait of an older Andrew Jackson. If you notice down in the bottom center of
the note it has the "NEW ORLEANS"
location of the bank. The back of the note has the beautiful red ink tones with
the large pair of "100" with the "CITIZENS' BANK OF LOUISIANA" in French above.
You can tell that these notes were crafted like a work of art and not just
printed as were so many of the pieces of the day. The overall size of note
measures 7-1/4ths inches by 3-1/4th inches. The note comes in an
acid free holder for display and preservation. What a fantastic display piece!
