Scarce Original "USN" Marked Naval Cutlass with Original Scabbard
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a cool looking and tough to find sword! It is an original WW1 era naval cutlass. This is the pattern that is officially known as the U.S. model 1917 naval cutlass. These were the last model of cutlass for the U.S. Navy and they are much more scarce than the earlier production models. This US made version is constructed with the closed design hand guard. The only piercing is up near the top where it has the slot for the knot attachment. This one has the full-length blade that measures 25 inches in length with the clip style point. Each side of the blade has the single fuller running down the center. There is still a superb amount of the original factory blue finish remaining. At the base of the blade reverse it has the "USN" marking still clearly visible. It has the single piece iron hand guard with a pleasing look. On the handle of the cutlass it has the original 2-piece wood grip riveted in place. Accompanying the cutlass is the original leather bodied scabbard. It has the original drag in place as well as the original throat with the frog stud. This is a cool looking cutlass from all angles.
