This is an original Civil War piece of currency from Confederate Mississippi. This 50 cent note was issued by the Mobile and Ohio Railroad Company. This railroad was chartered in 1848 to connect Mobile with the Ohio River by rail, the M & O reached Columbus, KY in April 1861. Rebuilt after the war, it is today part of the Canadian National Railway system. It has the image of a train in the center. It was issued from Macon, Mississippi and is dated from February 15th 1862. It is correctly hand signed and numbered. These notes are printed on the front side and were left blank on the reverse. This is known to collectors as the bill being "Uniface". The note is in circulated condition and is 100% authentic in all regards. It has the overall size of the note measures 5 inches by 2 inches. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
