Scarce Version 1862 Issued Confederate State of Mississippi $50 Note

This is an original 1862 dated Civil War issued $50.00 note from the state of Mississippi. This is one of the very scarce pieces of currency issued from the Mississippi treasury. In the center of the note, it has the large "FIFTY" printing. It also has the image of the slave driving the team of mules with the wagon. On the right-hand side of the note it has the image of a the slave picking cotton. On the right-hand side of the note it has the image of Colonel M.D. Haynes who served as the Treasurer of the State of Mississippi. It is hand signed and dated January 22nd 1862. The note is the version listed as Cr2Ab in Shull's book on Southern Currency. He gives a value of $200 to $950 for this particular note depending on condition. This one is in nice circulated condition with a pleasing look as you can see in the pictures this one displays well. The overall size of the note measures 7-1/4ths inches by 3 inches. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
