"VERY RARE" Version 1862 State of Arkansas $1 Treasury Warrant Note
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a very cool authentic Civil War dated $1.00 note from the state of Arkansas. Across the top of the note, it has the large print. "ARKANSAS TREASURY WARRANT". The paper is clearly hand dated from January 27th 1862. On the left hand side it has the likeness of the lady in a fine hat. In the center of the note, it has the small image of the guard dog sleeping by the treasury safe. The note is nice circulated condition and displays well. It is hand correctly hand signed and numbered in fine old ink. On the back of the note it is unmarked as it should be. This is the pattern of note that is listed as CR#22 in the Arkansas section of Hugh Schull's book on Southern state currency. He lists it as a Rarity of 11 and lists the value of "Very Rare". In his rarity guide, it states that it is one of only 2-4 existing. It is the only one of this pattern of note that I have ever been ablet to offer. It has the paper loss to the bottom edge but still displays well and is priced accordingly. The note measures 6-3/4ths inches by 2-5/8ths inches in size. It also comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
