This is an original 1862 dated Civil War issued $20.00 note
from the state of Mississippi. In the center of the note it has the large
"TWENTY DOLLARS" printing. On the right hand side of the note it has the
likeness of the goddess Industry seated with large gear and tools with
factories in the background. On the left hand side of the note it has the image
of the two Indians with their bows. It is hand signed and dated March 1st 1862. The note is in
nice circulated condition as you can see in the pictures and displays well.
This is the version with the gray ink Roman Numeral "XX" for twenty as well as
the "COTTON PLEDGED" over printing on the face of the note. This overprint also
aided in the prevention of counterfeiting of the note. The overall size of the
note measures 7-1/4th inches by 2-3/4ths inches. It comes in an acid free
holder for display and preservation.
