This is an original 1861 dated Civil War $5 note from the
state of Virginia.
On the left hand side it has the image of the unknown young female.
On the right hand side it has the Roman Numeral denomination "V" for $5. The right hand side has the image of the Goddess Ceres behind the Roman Numeral. It is correctly hand signed
in ink for the Treasurer and public accountant at the bottom of the note. On
the top of the note it states "VIRGINIA TREASURY NOTE" and has the printed date
of October 13th 1861.
It also has the capitol and issuance location of Richmond, Virginia. Ludwig & Hoyer in Richmond, Virginias were the printers of the notes. The note is in very attractive almost uncirculated condition but displays well. This
pattern of bill measures approximately 7.75 inches by 3-1/4th inches in overall size.
It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. This is a
beautiful Civil War dated $5.00 bill from the state of Virginia.
