This is an authentic autograph and CDV image of Union Admiral David Dixon Porter (1813-1891). It is a nice clear bust view CDV of the admiral in his dress uniform. Along the bottom of the card, it proudly reads "REAR ADM. D.D. PORTER". Porter was born in Son of Chester, Pennsylvania on June 8th 1813. His adopted brother was Daniel Farragut. David Porter led the ships that captured New Orleans and Vicksburg. He traveled west for the Red River Campaign in 1864. Laster he would be sent to Fort Fisher in North Carolina for the fall of the fort. Porter went on to serve as the Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy. The autograph has his name as well as his rank of Admiral. It also has a CDV image of Porter's wife. The images and autograph are beautifully framed and matted in a wooden
frame that measures 12 inches by 12 inches in overall size. It also has a printed
biography of his service. The paper that the autograph is on measures 3 inches by 1-1/2 inches in the matting. It is ready to hang on the wall of your relic room.
