This is a very beautifully designed original 1863 dated State of North Carolina $5.00 Note. It has a beautiful panoramic view of the city and harbor of the city of Wilmington, North Carolina in the center of the note. On the left hand side it has the standing view of Lady Liberty with the shield by her side. In the lower right hand corner it has the image of the North Carolina State treasurer at the time who was Jonathan Worth. If you notice there is the word "FIVE" printed on the face of the note in red ink. This was an attempt to stop counterfeiters from copying the note. It was issued from Raleigh on January 1st 1863 and is so dated down by the image of Worth. The note is correctly hand signed and numbered in fine old ink. It is in nice displaying almost uncirculated condition. This nice authentic note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
