Great Looking Leather Holster by Gaylord for the .44 Double Action Starr Revolver
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a great looking piece! It is an original leather holster for a .44 caliber Civil War Starr patent revolver. This is the style that holds the double action version of the Starr revolver that is officially known as the model 1858 Starr revolver. They made about 23,000 of the revolver and a relatively few original holsters such as this one exist. On the back of the holster it has the original belt loops still intact. The loop has the crystal clear maker's mark of the famous firm of Emerson Gaylord of Chicopee, Massachusetts. The outer flap and the rest of the leather are sill nice and mostly pliable with a little stiffening. The closure tab is still original and present. At the bottom of the holster it has the original plug cap in place. This will make a superb addition to your double action Starr patent revolver.
