SHIPWRECK! State of New York Dragoon Style Belt Buckle Like O'Donnell #535
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a cool belt buckle! This is the belt buckle from the state of New York. It is the style pictured as figure #535 in O'Donnell's buckle book, which we sell. He lists it as the Dragoon pattern enlisted man's belt buckle. It has the clear "SNY" lettering on the face that stands for the state of New York. This pattern is found on a supply ship that sank off of the coast of South Carolina. They are distinctive because of the hook pattern on the back of the buckle. When it left the factory it would have had the iron wire hooks and you can see the outline of where the hooks would have been on this one. The face still a great detail on the letters on the brass face. You can even see some of the coral build up from the years in the salt water. This is a nice original State of New York belt buckle.
