Click on an image to enlarge
This is a neat Civil War canteen that saw two lives. This one started out life as a Civil War soldier's canteen. After the Civil War canteens started using the triangle loops for holding the canteen strap instead of the standard three loops used during the war. instead of getting rid of this canteen they converted it and added a new cover. The canteen is covered with the tarred canvas material that has a fine look. At the top of the canteen it has the original pewter spout intact. It has the original chain with replaced cork. It has the old leather shoulder sling intact. This is a neat historical piece for the price!
