This is a beautiful original non-excavated great coat size Civil War uniform button from the artillery branch of service. These are a beautifully designed Civil War button. They have the Union eagle in the center with the "A" in the center of the shield on the eagle's chest. The "A" denotes the artillery branch of service. This one has fine detail on the face with the original gold wash remaining in the recesses. On the back of the button it has the original back and shank intact. It has the correct Civil War era backmark of the D. Evans Company of Attleboro, Massachusetts. This is a very nice non-dug original Civil War era 23mm uniform button.
