Click on an image to enlarge

This is a gorgeous original 1862 issue of the $2.00 bill from the Confederate States of America. Along the top of the note it has the Richmond Virginia, location of issuance and the printed date of issuance of December 2nd 1862. On the right hand side it has Judah P. Benjamin from the Confederate Cabinet. Benjamin was from Louisiana and held many important positions in the Confederate Government. At different times during the Civil War he served the Confederacy as attorney general, Secretary of War and secretary of state. At the end of the Civil War he fled to England and practiced law rather than live under U.S. rule. This is the version listed as figure T-54 in Criswell's Confederate Currency book. It is nicely and correctly hand signed and numbered in old ink. It is in beautiful un-circulated condition. The note measures 7-1/8ths inches by 3 inches in overall size. This note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. This one is a keeper by anyone's standards!
