John C. Calhoun Image 1862 Dated State of South Carolina $2.00 Note

This is a nice displaying original 1862 dated $2 note from the Bank of the State of South Carolina. It is hand signed and numbered as it should be with this style of note. In the lower right hand corner it has the hand written date of issuance of June 5th 1862. The scene in the center shows stately building. On the right hand side, it has the oval portrait of John C. Calhoun. In the bottom center of the note, it has the location of "CHARLESTON. So. Ca." and the amount of "TWO" in pale red ink to help prevent counterfeiting. Notice that this note has the very low serial number of "39" written in ink in the upper right hand side. The overall size of this note is 7-3/8ths inches by 3 inches. This note is in attractive circulated condition. It comes in an acid free holder for preservation and display.
