This is a great looking piece! It is an original 1861 dated
Louisiana $1.50 note issued from the New Orleans, Jackson & Great northern
Railroad Company. It has their long name going around the beautiful steam train
image in the center of the note. Along the top of the note it has the New
Orleans location of issuance as well as the printed issuance date of November
16th 1861. On each end of the note it has the large denomination
printing that reads "ONE DOLLAR
& 50 CENTS". It is correctly hand signed and serial numbered in fine old ink. When you look at the back of the note you see
that it was printed over paper that was being reused. It was easier and cheaper
to buy this paper rather than get new paper during the Civil War. It is a neat
little addition to the note that you can show your friends. This note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. The
overall size of the note measures 6-1/8th inches by 2-3/4ths inches.
This is a great piece of currency from the South.
