Nicely Priced "US" Marked .58 Caliber Rifle Bayonet With 8 Rivet Scabbard
Click on an image to enlarge
This is an original non-excavated socket bayonet for the Civil War Springfield military .58 caliber rifle. This one has a blade that is full-length with the clear "US" stamp marked at the base. The socket is also in fine shape and it has the original lockring present. This pattern was designed to fit the U.S. military rifles of the 1855, 1861 and 1863 patterns by Springfield or the muskets made by the contract makers either one. It has a darker tone finish all over that will look fine on many of the guns that are out there. This will be a solid addition to your gun or just for display by itself. The bayonet is accompanied by an original Civil War leather scabbard. The brass scabbard tip is missing in action from the end of the scabbard body which is otherwise complete. The top of the scabbard has the belt loop intact and is the style with the 8 rivet construction. On the side of the belt loop, it has the remnants of the Government inspector stamping. This is a very nice addition to any Civil War rifle.
