This is a nice original example of the most famous of all Civil War newspapers, the Frank Leslie Illustrated Newspaper. This paper is dated July 9th 1864. On the cover it has the fine image of the scenes of the "THE COLORED INFANTRY BRINGING IN THE CAPTURED GUNS, AND THE CHEERS OF THE OHIO TROOPS". On the inside it has many different fine engravings including the article telling about the African American soldiers at Petersburg. It has the center spread showing the scene of "THE ARMY OF THE POTOMAC CROSSING THE JAMES RIVER." The back pages have many interesting advertisements. This is an authentic issue of the famous Frank Leslie's Newspaper from the Civil War.
