This is a beautifully designed Pre-Civil War piece of currency from Virginia. This $10 note was issued by the Farmers Savings Bank of Virginia that was located at Richmond, Virginia. It has the hand written issue date of April 4th 1828. The Farmers Bank of Virginia was authorized in 1812 and ultimately ended up with twelve branches. It carried on until the end of the Civil War when it failed due to the adverse financial situation that faced most southern banks who were left holding assets dominated by CSA securities. It is correctly hand signed and numbered in old ink. These notes are printed on the front side and were left blank on the reverse. This is known to collectors as the bill being "Uniface". The note is in nice circulated condition and is 100% authentic in all regards. The overall size of the note measures 6-3/4ths inches by 2-3/4ths inches. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
