Click on an image to enlarge
This is a very desirable Civil War date note with an interesting design. This is the $10 note issued by the State of Arkansas. It is correctly hand dated March 28th 1862 in fine old brown ink. On the left hand side it has the barefoot slave carrying a basket of cotton. In the center of the note it has the image of Samuel Adams. At the bottom of the note it has the small dog lying down beside the date. On the back of the note there is no printing just as it should be. The note is correctly hand signed and numbered. The overall size of the note is 7 inches by 3 inches and it is printed with a green Arkansas Treasury Warrant printing on the back of a bill exchange for the Real Estate Bank of the (State of Arkansas). During the war it was cheaper for the state to print these notes on paper that had already been used. They made the most of what they had. It is in circulated condition. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
