This is an original Civil War piece of currency from what would be Confederate Virginia. This $5 note was issued by the Merchants and Mechanics Bank of Wheeling that was located in Virginia at the time before West Virginia became a state in June of 1862. It has the hand written issue date of September 24th 1830. The front has the note has the scene of Wheeling from the river view. It is correctly hand signed and numbered. These notes are printed on the front side and were left blank on the reverse. This is known to collectors as the bill being "Uniface". The note is in circulated condition and is 100% authentic in all regards. It has the overall size of the note measures 7 inches by 3 inches. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
