Excellent Original Civil War Era State of Pennsylvania Coat Button PA18

This is a beautiful original non-excavated coat size button for the state of Pennsylvania. It has the state seal on the front with superb detail. It has the coat of arms in the center that depicts a ship at the top with a plow in the center and three sheaves of wheat at the bottom. There are two horses supporting the shield and an eagle that has the spread wings that makes a crest. The face of the button has an excellent amount of the gold gilt intact and has a fine look. The back and shank are intact with the correct "*HORSTMANN * N.Y. & PHILADa" maker's mark backmark. This is the version listed as figure PA18 in Albert's button book and PA203B2 in Tice's button book. This is a great looking non-excavated Civil War era Pennsylvania state seal button.
