Original Civil War Cavalry Carbine Sling with Maker Marked Snap
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a piece that you don't see offered for sale very often anymore. It is an original cavalry carbine sling with snap. This is the classic style that would have been used by a Civil War cavalryman to secure his carbine so he wouldn't loose it. It has the snap on one end that goes through the saddle ring on the backside of a carbine. Inside the snap, it has the maker stamping of the O.B. North firm of New Haven, Connecticut. The leather part went over the cavalryman's shoulder. This one has the buckle and bat wing tip removed and is sewn to the current length. The leather is now 48 inches in length. Many of these were cut down after the Civil War and used during the Indian Wars. This is a great piece that will display superbly with your Civil War cavalry carbine or in your leather display either way.
