This is a nice displaying original 1862 dated $2 note from
the Bank of the State of South Carolina. It is hand signed and numbered as it
should be with this style of note. In the lower right hand corner it has the
hand written date of issuance of March 4th 1862. The scene in the
center shows a beautiful Union eagle by a shield with the South Carolina
palmetto tree in the center. On the right hand side it has the oval portrait of
George Washington. In the bottom center of the note it has the location of
"CHARLESTON. So. Ca." and the amount of "TWO DOLLAR". Notice that this note has
the very low serial number of "845" written in ink in the upper right hand
side. The overall size of this note is 67/8ths inches by 2-3/4ths inches. This
note is in attractive well circulated condition. It comes in an acid free holder for
preservation and display.
