This is a non-excavated original Civil War coat size cavalry coat button. It has the eagle on the face with the "C" in the shield that denotes the Cavalry branch of service. There is some of the original gold gilt in the recesses of the front that give it a fine look. The original back and shank are intact. This is the style made by the famous Civil War button maker W.G. Mintzer of Philadelphia and is so marked on the back of the button. This is a nice Civil War cavalry coat button in fine non-excavated condition.
