This is a cool piece! It is an original sheet of Civil War currency. This is what they looked like them they left the printer. It is a sheet of nine bank notes from the Bank of Augusta in Georgia. Each note has the printed January 1st 1863 date. There is one 75 Cent note, three 50 cent notes, two 25 cent notes, two ten cent notes and one five cent note on the sheet. Each note states that when the notes are presented in sums of $5 they will receive payment "in Confederate treasury Notes". As if that wasn't neat enough when you turn the sheet over you see that they were overprinted on earlier notes of larger denomination. They already had the $4 notes printed so they just used this paper. There are four of the four dollar notes with George Washington and Benjamin Franklin on the sides. This is a wonderful piece of history! THIS ITEM IS FEATURED ON
