This is a beautifully designed bank note. This one was issued by the Danville Insurance Company of Danville in Virginia. This one is dated from June 1st 1861. In the center of the note it has the "FIFTY CENTS" denomination. It is correctly hand signed and numbered in brown ink. It measures 6-1/2 inches by 2-7/8ths inches in overall size. The note is only printed on one side which is referred to by collectors as being "Uniface". It was printed by the famous Hoyer & Ludwig Company. This is a note that is not an easy piece to find!
