1862 Dated State of Arkansas $5 With Governor Rector Image & Slave Scene

This is a very desirable Civil War date note with an interesting design. This is the $5 note issued by the State of Arkansas. It is correctly hand dated March 17th 1862 in fine old brown ink. On the left hand side it has the barefoot slave carrying a basket of cotton. In the center of the note it has the image of Arkansas' Governor H.M. Rector. At the bottom of the note it has the small dog lying down beside the date. On the back of the note you can see where the not was printed on paper that had already been used. It was cheaper and easier that getting the new paper at this time. . The note is correctly hand signed and numbered. The overall size of the note is 7 inches by 3 inches and it is printed with a green "AKANSAS TREASURY WARRANT" overprint on the printing on the back of a bill exchange for the Real Estate Bank of the (State of Arkansas). It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
