This is a quite scarce original piece from the 1860 election of President Abraham Lincoln. It is one of the ferrotype image token from Lincoln's opponent, Stephen Douglas. On one side it has the ferrotype image of the Douglas. The image is mounted on the brass token and the edge reads "STEPHEN A. DOUGLAS 1860". On the back of the token it reads "HERSHEL V. JOHNSON 1860". In the center of that side it has the bust view of the prospect for Vice-President, Johnson. Both of the images have the loss and wear as you see in the pics and it is priced accordingly. The token measures just a little less than 1 inch across. In mint condition, these are bringing over $1,000 these days. This is a wonderful piece from one of the most important Presidential campaigns in American history.
