Cool Non-Dug Small Size Civil War U.S. Belt Buckle with Black Leatherf Belt

This is an original small size U.S. belt buckle. This is the model of 1839 which is often referred to by collectors as the "baby" U.S. because of the size which is smaller than the regular plates of the day. The face of this plate is well worn and has a crystal clear "US" that can be seen from across the room. This one has the original belt hooks intact on the reverse. It has the arrow style single hook with the keeper hook intact as well. This one has a fine amount of the original lead in the back and it has a wonderful patina. What is cool about this one is that it is still on the improvised Civil War belt. The belt started out like as a belt for a larger US buckle. You can see the outline of the 1864 pattern inspector stamp near the buckle. What a cool belt and buckle.
