This is a very attractive original 1863 dated 50 cent note
from the State of Georgia.
It was issued from Milledgeville,
Georgia in
January of 1863 and is so dated along the top of the note. This note has a fine
design. It has the likeness of three workers in the top center of the note. On
the top of the note it has the red oval ink stamp of the Georgia Treasury Department.
The note is in well circulated condition and is correctly hand signed and
numbered. It states that it the state will "pay the bearer twenty five
cents at the treasury in Confederate Treasury Notes, when presented in sums of
Five Dollars and upwards." The overall size of the note measures 2-5/8ths
inches by 5 inches. It comes in an acid free holder for display and
preservation.
