Authentic 1863 Production .36 Caliber Model 1851 Colt Civil War Revolver

This is a good looking original .36 caliber Colt patent revolver. It is the classic model 1851 Colt revolver referred to by collectors as the "Navy" model even though the majority of their service was seen on land. This one has the remnants of the Colt maker's mark on the top of the barrel along with the correct New York City location. These guns were really made in Hartford, Connecticut with the sales office being located in New York. The gun has all matching serial numbers of 169,607 except for the wedge and loading lever which are original replacements from another gun. Thanks to Mr. Colt's good bookkeeping we know that this gun would have been made in 1863. The side of the frame has the "COLTS PATENT" still visible. The cylinder still retains trace amounts of the original naval scene and most of the time this is long gone. The action is functional on all positions. On the handle of the gun it has the original 1-piece walnut grips intact with a fine well worn look all over to the wood. The brass on the triggerguard and backstrap still retain a beautiful golden tone to the brass. This weapon is a good honest .36 caliber Colt that displays quite well.
