This is a great looking buckle for the price! It is an original eagle style eagle militia plate. This is the thinner style that some people refer to as being made after the Civil War and it is priced as such. It is made form a sheet of stamped brass. In the center of the buckle it has the beautiful spread wing eagle with the arrows of war in one talon and the branch of peace in the other. Around the border of the buckle it has the 13 stars for each of the original colonies. On the reverse of the buckle it has the keeper hook intact as well as the belt loop bar and the thin hook from the keeper hook side of the belt. It displays superbly from all angles. It is similar to the one illustrated as figure #403 in the O'Donnell & Campbell belt buckle book.
