Excellent 1914 G.A.R. Reunion Medal from the Detriot Encampment

This is a great looking piece of history from the Grand Army of the Republic. The Grand Army of the Republic or G.A.R. was the organization made up of Union Survivors of the Civil War. They held reunion and erected monuments to the men that fought for the north during the Civil War. This medal was to commemorate the 1914 reunion of the G.A.R. that was held in Detroit, Michigan. The top medallion has the eagle design and the "SOUVENIR" designation. It also has the 1914 reunion date and Detroit location at the bottom. The original pin is on the reverse of the top bar. The bottom medallion has the GAR shaking hands image. It has the "48th National Encampment" On the back of the bottom medallion it has the correct Schwaab maker's mark. This is an excellent medal for any collection.
