This is one COOL looking sword! This is a massive sword. It has the full-length sword that is a whopping 34-1/2 inches in length. It has the double edge design with the single fuller going down 28-3/4ths inches of the blade. The front side of the blade has the simple but beautiful "US" etching in the center. At the base it has the remnants of the maker marking of the famous "PDL" firm of P.D. Luneschloss. They made some amazing edged weapons for the best retailers in the United States including Tiffany and Schuyler Hartley & Graham. On the back of the blade, it has the spread wing Union eagle with the arrows of war in one talon and the branch of peace in the other. Coming out of the beak of the Eagle, it has the banner with the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" motto that translates from the Latin "Of One, Many!". What makes this sword really stand out is the pierced steel handguard. It has the huge steel basket with the floral and geometric designs. It has the iron backstrap joining the blade and guard together. The original grip is still present. It has the wooden core with the majority of the sharkskin grip remaining. It is designed with the very thing copper twisted wire around the grip and it is still present as well. The sword is accompanied by the original steel scabbard. The scabbard has both of the rings and mounts as well as the original drag and throat. This is a sword that has a ton of character and will stand out in any sword collection.
