Here is an original uncut sheet of four Civil War New Orleans bank notes. These notes are true works of art as much as they are a bank note. This is a group of 4 original $5.00 notes from the Citizens Bank of Louisiana in New Orleans,
Louisiana. These were never issued as you can tell by the blanks where the
names and signatures would have gone. The notes display superbly and was never
issued and it is from the pre-Civil War era as they were not printed after the
Civil War. It has the scene Lady Liberty leaning against the Union shield in
the center. If you notice down in the bottom center of the note it has the "NEW ORLEANS” location of the bank. In the center of
the note at the bottom it has the Louisiana state seal that depicts the mother
pelican feeding her young. The back of the note has the beautiful blue ink
tones with the large trio of "5”'s with the "CITIZENS’ BANK OF LOUISIANA” above
and below. You can tell that these notes were crafted like a work of art and
not just printed as were so many of the pieces of the day. The overall
size of each note measures 7-1/8th inches by 3-1/8th inches in size. The sheet itself measures 13 inches by 7-1/2 inches in overall size. It is in exceptional condition. This one is ready to frame up on your wall. What a fantastic
display piece!
