Scarce McMinnville, Tennessee Issued $1.00 Note by Landon Kincannon

This is a scarce Tennessee note. This is one of the notes issued by an exchange banker named Landon Kincannon. The book on Tennessee currency states that he opened about 1830 and was out of business by 1839. This note is in ragged shape but in the book he lists this is a rarity of (R-13) which means that there were only 5 to 10 of them known. There are more known now but it is still a quite scarce note. This note is hand dated along the bottom edge from January 1838. In the center of the note it has the Indian standing on a cliff holding a tomahawk. On the right hand side it has the Benjamin Franklin image with George Washington on the other side. The note measures 6-7/8ths inches by 3 inches in size. It is correctly hand signed and numbered. The note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
