This is a rare version of Civil War note from the State of
North Carolina. This is the $20 note that is listed as CR#80A in the Southern
currency book. On the left side it has "20” with the Roman numeral in the
corners. The center of the note has the image of the steam train moving down
the line with the steam rising out of the engine. This one has the handwritten
date of July 1st 1863 in the lower right of the note. They note how
this issue had the very top edge trimmed off to remove the portion that stated
how the note was fundable. The overall size of the note measures 7 inches by 2-7/8ths
inches in overall size. The note comes in an acid free holder for preservation
and display.
