Beautiful Swirl Gripped 1850's Eagle Head Officer's Sword with Etched Blade

This is a great looking sword! It is the 18550's period eagle head officer's sword. This is the straight bladed version that is often listed as an infantry officer's sword. The blade is full-length at 33 inches. Each side of the blade has the floral and patriotic designs. This is the high quality style with the blue and gold finish and a fine amount of the blue and gold remain. The blade, like the rest of the sword, has a very pleasing look. This is the pattern that is referred to by collectors as the "Rosette" guard design. The handguard has the flower rosettes in the middle of the single branch of the guard. At the top of the sword it has the large eagle head pommel cap and it still retains some of the original gold gilding. The original bone handle of the sword is present on the grip. The bone has aged to a beautiful golden white tone with the swirl design that makes it really stand out from most of the ones you see offered. The sword is accompanied by the original scabbard. This is the version with the brass body and brass mounts and drag. The mounts are present and it has both of the original hanging rings. The scabbard is the version that is very ornate with the profuse engraving. Between the mounts it has the patriotic eagle perched on the top of the shield. There is one repair to the scabbard that is mentioned for exactness. This is a beautiful eagle head design officer's sword in the original scabbard.
