1863 Dated State of Arkansas $5 With Governor Rector Image & Slave Scene

This is a very desirable Civil War date note with an interesting design. This is the $5 note issued by the State of Arkansas. It is correctly hand dated January 13th 1863 in fine old brown ink. On the left hand side it has the barefoot slave carrying a basket of cotton. In the center of the note it has the image of Arkansas' Governor H.M. Rector. At the bottom of the note it has the small dog lying down beside the date. The note is correctly hand signed and numbered. The overall size of the note is 7 inches by 3 inches and it is printed with a green "ARKANSAS TREASURY WARRANT"overprint. This piece was part of the Eric P. Newman Collection and was professionally graded by the PCGS Company and they rated it as "Very Fine". It comes in their acid free holder for display and preservation.
