What a beautifully designed piece of currency! This is a very attractive original pre-Civil War $50.00 note from the Mechanics Bank in the state of Georgia. It was issued from Augusta, Georgia and is so marked on the front of the note. This note has a fine design. It has the likeness of a beautiful steam train design at the top center of the note. On the right side of the note it has the image of the great seal of the state of Georgia with the rattlesnake around it. The note is correctly hand signed, dated and numbered in nice old ink. The note is lightly dated in ink from January 1st 1854. With that date it was almost surely spent by future Confederate soldier. The note is in well-circulated condition and displays well as you can see. The overall size of the mote measures 7-1/4ths inches by 3-1/8th inches. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
