This is a beautifully designed authentic Confederate States of America $10.00 piece of currency. In the center of the note it has the image of the Goddesses hope leaning on the anchor. On the right hand side it has the image of C.C. Memminger who served as the Confederate Secretary of the Treasury and was the key man in production of Confederate paper money. In the lower left hand corner is the likeness of Robert M.T. Hunter who served as Confederate Secretary of State and a C.S. Senator. Before the War he was a U.S. Congressman and Senator from Virginia. It was issued on September 2nd 1861 from Richmond and that part is clearly printed on the front. This is the version listed as T-26 in Criswell's Confederate Currency book. It is correctly hand signed and numbered in ink. The note is in very attractive circulated condition. You can see the notch cuts along the bottom edge of the paper. This is the "Cut Cancellation" marking that lets us know the note was used during the Civil War and was taken out of circulation by the Confederate Government. The note is in nice circulated condition and comes in an acid-free holder for preservation and display.
