Dixon "PATENT" Marked "Ball" Design Civil War Era Powder Flask

This is an attractive original Civil War era powder flask. The body has the sides that has the attractive "Ball" design on each side of the brass body. The flask stands about 10 inches tall and is about 4-1/2 inches across. The spout is present and the spring is as well and they are still functional. It is the version that is made with four hanging loops on the side and they are all present. This is a variant of the patterns that is illustrated on page 302 in Ray Riling's book on powder flasks. He tells how it is known as the "Ball" pattern flask that was made by the Dixon firm. They are very well crafted and on the top of the flask it has the "PATENT" marking. It has a very attractive overall look!
